Allen Toussaint & Mavis Staples in Toronto 2010

Wow Allen Toussaint and Mavis Staples under one roof. It almost came down. Allen has written and performed some of the biggest hit songs of all time. He is also an amazing performer. New Orleans has some really major talent there still............
Mavis is a powerhouse on any stage, she was at the church singing with her family in Memphis when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech about "I've Been To The Mountaintop." Very moving. He was assasinated at the "Lorraine Motel" not too long after he gave the speech. The motel is now the "National Museum Of Civil Rights." I have some photos of it in an earlier blog.

I took these shots of Sylvia and Ian at Mariposa. They played separate but when Ian went into "Four strong winds" Sylvia came back on stage and sang along. It was great...........
